Road Trip!

I'm heading out for an overnight visit with Jay, Colleen and Fin.  He had his 6 week appt yesterday and is now a "chubby" 8 lbs, 1 oz.       :-)

This baby wants for nothing but there have been a few little things I've come across that I could not possibly pass up.

Like these socks that look like shoes...

Or this cute onesie from Aunt Meg...

And finally these overalls from Grandpa Randy, who has always planned to call the little guy Shark instead of Fin. ;)

Fun stuff, don't you think?

It's going to be a quick visit but I can't wait!

Thanks, Meg

Meg was going through my planner last night.  She flipped through January and February, read my comings and goings, and then noticed that I had birthdays recorded.

She then flipped to June which is, of course, is still blank.  She was appalled that I didn't have her birthday down.  She then proceeded with the "See, you love Jay best" speech that I've heard dozens and dozens of times.  Next thing I knew she was recording her own birthday.

She then flipped to October to record our birthdays.  Daddy got this ...

While I got this ...

At least I'm "still hot".  ROFL!

Then it was Finley's turn ...

Yep, that's my girl.  *eyeroll*

More Baby Goodness

It's been fairly quiet around here.  I'm go back to subbing tomorrow after having taken time off for the baby/holidays.  I also have a day scheduled for next week but am hoping to squeeze in some baby time after that.  They've been really good about sending me photos but I think he's missing his grandma.

I mean, look at that face!   So darned cute!!!

He's finally out of preemie clothes.

I just love how he positions his hands.

They've gone on lots of walking adventures.  (Again, notice the hands.)  Such a little peanut.

And the hands again.  So precious.

I think Grandma needs to make a road trip.  :-)

More Cards to Share

Several of you asked/commented on those adorable flamingos from my last post.  They are actually a stamp and die set from Reverse Confetti.  You can find the stamps here and the coordinating dies here.   I knew I had to have them the minute I saw them....'cause you know, "Flamingos are my favorite animal because they are pink and make lovely noises."  Meg's paper was recognized at the very first author's breakfast of 2006, her kindergarten year, and it earned her a spot on stage with the principal.  (Of course hearing her say "flabingos" made it even more endearing.)

On a side note....where have the last eight years gone??????

I have a couple more cards that I made with this stamp/die set and I must confess, I think they are some of my most favorite ever.

The inside of both cards use the "Hope Your Day is as Fabulous as You Are" sentiment from the stamp set.  The scribbles are stamps from PaperTrey Ink and the shadow is from Paper Smooches. I can see myself using these flamingos a lot.  LOVE THEM!

The remainder of my 2015 cards....

Perhaps now I will get started back on my Dec. Daily....

Card Share

I mentioned that I've been procrastinating my Dec. Daily album but that doesn't mean I haven't been crafting.  Unlike mini albums, cards are easy "instant gratification" projects which makes them perfect for when one is in "full on procrastination mode."  :-)

Today I'll be sharing Valentine inspired cards.  Again, my apologies for bad photos.  Someday I'm going to take the time to learn how to photograph my cards in a way that is complimentary.  Just trust me when I say that they are definitely much prettier in real life.

I absolutely adore those flamingos.  You'll be seeing them again in my next set of cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Catching Up

Every December I start an album to document the everyday things that happen around here during the holidays.  Every December I start out with a bang and every January, I play catch up.

This year I managed to create pages up until December 22nd.  Not too bad, especially considering that in addition to Christmas we also had the birth of our grandson.  Sadly the album has sat untouched on my desk for nearly a month. What's stopping me from finishing?  The dreaded task of photo editing.  It's not my favorite activity and definitely one I can procrastinate forever.  I have however managed to get photos printed out for Days 23, 24 and 25 and hope to cross those off my list soon.

In the meantime, while slogging through the editing process, I've discovered a few additional December photos that I'd like to share with you.

Christmas Eve...

Love this girl!

One of my solo trips to Orlando....

Love his expression!

Tiny Fingers, Tiny Toes

And Meg meeting her nephew for the first time....

Totally smitten!

I do plan to share my December Daily album once it's finished but don't hold your breath.  I'm very good at procrastinating.

Hey Girl,

You can't browse the web without soon crossing paths with a Ryan Gosling meme.  They are everywhere!  But in the event that some of you do not know what I'm talking about here are a few examples...

And one for us crafters....

Anyway, I'm sure you get the idea which leads me to the reason behind my obscure post.  Ryan Gosling has nothing on my grandson.

Til next time!

A Different Kind of Cinderella Story

I think it's fair to say that little girls love shoes.  And like many young girls, my daughter and her friends have always enjoyed trying on "Mommy Shoes" when out shopping.  It makes them feel all grown up and Cinderella-ish.

I have dozens of photos like this one taken throughout the years.

Over the years however the "Mommy Shoes" have graduated to what I'll refer to here as "Street Walker" shoes.  Meg will gravitate to the tallest platform, highest heeled, gaudiest pair of shoes on the rack and then parade around the store until she finds me.  This is exactly what she did over the Christmas holiday while shopping with my mother and me.  After prancing around in several different pairs I finally asked for a photo.  This time however I didn't take the usual "feet" photo but a full sized photo.  You'll understand why in a moment....

Meg is 5'8".  My mother is/was 5'3" (sorry Mom).  Add in the shoes and those legs and yeah, you get the picture.   Hilarious, isn't it?  We certainly thought so. In fact, it reminds me of the photos of Robert Wadlow that you see at the Ripley's Believe it or Not museums.  Well read on...

My mom emailed the photo to a very close friend of hers.  "Said friend" gets quite a kick out of it.  (I mean, who wouldn't?)  Anyway, a day or two later "said friend" emails my mother back with this...

"I noticed that the photo of Meg modeling those shoes disappeared from your message while it was sitting in my inbox.  I wondered about it, but didn't think too much of it.  Then, just now, I was checking my spam folder, and there it was, with a red-lettered notice:  "This message contains blocked images."  It had a "show images" thing to click on, and there she was.  Meg's short shorts or those shoes scandalized Yahoo and got blocked as porn?!"

ROFLMBO!  Seriously????  What bozo at Yahoo created the "let's flag photos of 13 year old girls shopping for shoes at Dillard's with their grandmothers" as inappropriate?  Makes ya wonder, huh?

Meanwhile I'm thinking that I can give away the bread machine we got her for Christmas.  (She loves her carbs and recently announced that she wanted to own a bakery so she could eat fresh bread all day. LOL!)  It's now apparent that my daughter has many other opportunities available to her.  *sigh*

It will be interesting to see what the "Blogger 'Bots" think of my family photo.

Time for Some Major Cuteness

Okay everybody...consider yourself warned.  This post contains an overabundance of cuteness.

Little Fin was born in a beautiful women's hospital where they apparently have thought of everything, including professional (and I mean, professional) newborn photographs.

Are ya ready?

I can hear all of the "AHHHS!" right now.  :-)  Isn't he just adorable?  (Mom and Dad don't look too bad themselves.  *wink*)

In stark contrast, here are my kids hospital mug shots.

Jay in 1983

(not too terribly bad)

but then there's Meg's in 2001

If they weren't such good looking people now, this wouldn't be funny at all. Seriously.
