Scrapping This Week

When it comes to scrapbooking, I am finally embracing the art of going with the flow and getting it done.  Subsequently, I had a very productive week.

While I love this photo, I'm not loving the layout.  It is however a testament to the fact that I was able to get past my OCD, call it done, and move on.

These next three came together quite easily and were much more fun to do.

All photos are from Jan/Feb 2013.  The 12x12 pages are for Meg's scrapbook while the 8.5x11 are for my family albums.  With these completed I think I'm about ready to move on to my March 2013 photo file.

On Getting Older

Over the years I have come to grips with the fact that I am getting older and am slowly learning to embrace my husband's philosophy that "only the lucky have birthdays."  He's right.  At a time when many my age (52, there I said it) are grandmothers I am blessed with a second round of motherhood.  Twelve year old Meg definitely keeps me young at heart and for that, I am so grateful.  So while I can trick my mind into believing that I'm in my thirties, my son's birthdays force me back to reality, at least for a little while.  Last week Jay turned 31.  Wow.  It is still so hard for me to comprehend.

I "text hounded" (my new term) him all day for a photo.  Forget that he was busy working a twelve hour shift at his new job.  I'm his mom and I want a birthday photo!   For some illogical reason, he ignored me.  Later that evening however he did oblige me with this....

Ok, I deserved it.  But naturally, it only made me text hound him more.  He finally relented and sent me this...

I take great pride in the fact that he's happy and doing well.  It makes me feel like I did my job as a parent and can only hope the same for my daughter.  What I can't figure out though is how a thirty-five year old woman could have a thirty-one year old son.  It must be that fuzzy math thing.

Life Is Good

Very much so.

Randy has a new job with far better hours and considerably less stress.  (Big hurray!)

Meg has a new math teacher whom she loves and is proving to be a far better instructor than her previous one.  (Can we say less homework and greatly improved grades?)  It took me three meetings with the principal to get her switched out but persistence pays off.  (Hurray for fabulous teachers!!!)

Cheer is over.  (Hip Hip Hurray!)

And, I haven't been called in to sub for over two weeks now.  (Hurray for play time!!!)

So what have I been doing?  Well, Randy and I are slowly tackling some of the many overdue projects around the house for starters.  (Think patio cleaning, sprinkler repair, etc.)

Shawn and I are reading this book together....

Meg and I read several Judy Moody books by the same author when she was in elementary school. Stink is Judy Moody's younger brother with the books geared toward a younger reader.  (Shawn is a second grader now.)  I purchased the first three paperbacks in the series which I will give to him as we finish.  They're a bit over his level but his interest is there so it will make for some good summer reading on his own.  He loved the bookmark I was using (Meg's) so I made him one of his own which I gave him earlier today.

Yesterday I had the privilege of watching my girlfriend's son for a few hours.  It was great having some company on my morning walk!

Aren't those Batman socks the cutest?!

I've also had some play time in JW.

I'm a little bummed that I didn't get to participate this year (my teacher recruit is the same one who just had the baby so she wasn't involved this year) but I did go to the mall and see the projects. Our school district made them optional this year and Meg was soooooo happy that I didn't force her to do one.  She's just lucky that the deadline came at a time when we were swamped with cheer.  Had it been now, I'd be the most hated mom in America.  *wink*

On a final note, my eldest turned 31 yesterday.  (That is still so hard to believe and worse yet, admit.) I was able to get him to share some photos with me last night which I will share at a later time.  Til then, thanks for stopping by!

Latest JulieWorld Creations

I have a few creations to share with you today.   First up, a recent layout using 2013 photos.

Some cards using up some paper scraps from the above layout.

More paper scraps...

And yet more paper scraps....

These next two are my favorites.  I've had this stamp for ages and decided to try my hand at coloring with Copics.  I really love the way they turned out.  (And so does Meggie.)  I may have to make a few more of these for my gift stash.

That's it folks.  I'm hoping to get some photos printed later on today to have on hand for when my inspiration strikes.  Thanks for stopping by!!!

Quick Card Share

With lots of January birthdays, I found myself needing to replenish my card stash. Here are a few of my most recent ones.

Unfortunately my photography skills don't do my card making skills justice but you get the idea.

Thanks for stopping by!!!
